The TB-CAPT consortium released a new study recently that showed that the new Xpert MTB/XDR testing can provide signigificantly faster results. This study which looked at over 410,000 residual sputum samples found that Xpert MTB/XDR can provide diagnostic, 1st line resistance, and 2nd line resistance results in 23 hours as opposed to the 15 days needed for routine testing.. This testing also only requires patients to provide a single sputum sample. Learn more here.
