Dr. Stefan Goldberg graduated from the University of Colorado medical school in 1981 and completed an internal medicine residency at Downstate Medical Center in New York in 1984. He worked at the Pheriche Aid Post of the Himalayan Rescue Association in Nepal in 1984 and 1985. He did emergency room work, between climbing trips, until he started a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Washington, which he completed in 1991. He worked part time in private practice pulmonary and occupational medicine from 1991 to 1993. From 1991 to 2003 he worked at the Public Health – Seattle and King County tuberculosis clinic, serving as medical director from 1994 to 2001 and acting program director from 2001 to 2003. In 2003 he joined the Clinical Research Branch of CDC’s Division of TB Elimination, where he continues to serve as a medical officer.
