Ignacio Monedero is a medical doctor specialized in family and community medicine with more than 12 years of clinical practice. Since the early years of university is being involved in NGO projects in developing countries especially in tropical and infectious diseases. After ending specialization he spent 2 years working at the national TB and HIV program of Ecuatorial Guinee. The joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he took over a master course in Public health in developing Countries. In 2008 was contracted by the International Union of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases as a consultant at the MDR-TB Department. Since then he is being working in more than 35 countries providing technical assistance, MDR and TB/HIV courses and supporting operational research projects. He has been involved in the writing of several Union guidelines including TB/HIV and the forthcoming MDR-TB in addition to different MDR-TB papers. Currently apart from his work in the Union is one of the Associate Editors of the journal Public Health Action, is lecturer at the University of Granada (Spain) in an official master course of International Aid, is also working the UITB (Barcelona TB research unit). Since May 2013 he returned to clinical practice in infectious diseases, more precisely in MDR-TB and TB/HIV with a current post as the Medical Director of the hospital Serveis Clinics which is devoted to TB/HIV, MDR-TB and clinically or socially complicated TB cases. In June 2013 he finished his PhD based in management of MDR-TB in developing countries with a final qualification of cum laude.
